Gasoline engine is different from diesel engine, it is not the air into the cylinder, but the mixture of gasoline and air, the pressure is too large easy to deflagration. Therefore, the installation of turbochargers must avoid deflagration. There are two related issues involved, one is high temperature control and the other is ignition time control.
After forced pressurization, the temperature and pressure of the gasoline engine during compression and combustion will increase, and the deflagration tendency will increase. In addition, the exhaust temperature of the gasoline engine is higher than that of the diesel engine, and it is not suitable to increase the valve overlap Angle (the time when the inlet and exhaust doors are opened at the same time) to strengthen the exhaust cooling, reducing the compression ratio will cause insufficient combustion. In addition, the speed of gasoline engine is higher than that of diesel engine, and the air flow rate changes greatly, which can easily cause the response lag of turbocharger. In order to solve a series of problems in the use of turbochargers in gasoline engines, the engineers made specific improvements one by one so that exhaust gas turbochargers could be used in gasoline engines.
